On October 24, 2009 over
a hundred runners gathered in memoriam
for Adam Kennedy ’00 for the first ever Adam’s Army Run. The race took place in Norfolk along a five-mile course among the peak foliage. The money raised
during the event went to establish
a Xaverian scholarship in Adam’s name. The first recipient was freshman Brian Tully. Many Xaverian alumni and friends joined in the great cause. Mr. Chris Vasta’00, friend, teammate, teacher and Xaverian Campus Minister,
Adam’s mother Nancy and his two cousins Lauren Smyth and Jillian Reardon, spearheaded the event. One of the highlights was seeing the seven visiting cadets from Norwich University where
Adam attended college in the race. They ran in tight formation and perfect cadence for the entire length of the course in their physical training uniforms. This year’s event will take place October 23,
2010. More information will be available on the Xaverian website as well. ( Courteous of Xaverian High School Magazine)
