etc. This scholarship is open to youth attending any school. There will be (1) scholarship given out by Adam's parents at
the upcoming 1st Memorial run on Sat. October 24th, 2009. Adam
was born on October 24, 1981 to parents Nancy Smyth and David Kennedy. He grew up in Norfolk and attended Norfolk Public schools,
graduated in 2000 from Xaverian, and then went on to Norwich University where he graduated in 2004. Adam went into training
for the United States Army upon graduation and became the distinguished honor graduate of his basic training class where he
was ranked 1 out of a class of 275 men/women. After Airborne School he reported to Fort Richardson, AK.
Adam was killed in action on Easter Sunday April 8, 2007, by an IED while in his humvee
in Diwaniyah, 25 miles south of Baghdad. He was the 51st member of the Armed Forces to be killed from Massachusetts. He was
only 25. He will be remembered as a loved son, brother, friend, and as a proud dedicated soldier in the United States Army.
And, as Adam always said, "Stay the course" we believe that we are, by continuing what he believed in by giving
this scholarship to a deserving young male or female who have similar attributes as Adam.
